Nadar entre dos aguas...This expression in Spanish sometimes implies indecision or doubt. Other times, seems to indicate the ability of a person to circumvent complications or not express a clear opinion. In the first place, the term "dos aguas" can be interpreted as the mouth of a river in the sea, a dangerous place. On the second one, one should think about who swims between the bottom and the water surface, as in a problematic situation, without risking the success - to surface - or failure - to sink.
Paco de Lucía "nadó entre dos aguas" (straddled the fence - literally "he swam between two waters") dodging criticism from those who accused him of sullying the purity of flamenco and delighting those ones to whom he opened their eyes to new rhythms. Undoubtedly, his "entre dos aguas" involved to risk; he did, and emerged triumphant.
And that rumba made by chance, a "padding" to complete the LP they were recording, broke the record unsuspectedly.
My humble tribute to this great musical genius ...
